🌼 Join the Celebration

Come together, to admire the spectacular golden bloom of broom in springtime in Bromley! Gather your friends and family, dress in green and yellow, and be part of this joyful revival of Bromley’s heritage.

🖼️Exhibition at The Glades

From 11:00am to 4:00pm, head to the Central Atrium at The Glades for a fascinating exhibition exploring:

* The story of broom in Bromley
* The town’s Anglo-Saxon beginnings
* The cultural significance of this bright yellow plant

There will also be yellow floral decorations and children’s headdresses available—perfect for getting into the festive spirit!
🎉 The Broom Day Parade

At 12:00pm, the parade steps out onto the streets led by the Mayor.
📍 Route: the Elmfield Road entrance of The Glades, up the High Street, and along Church Road to Martin’s Hill.

Our parade features:
* A towering Green Man
* A life-sized Broom Flower
* very tall Flower Girls

Everyone is welcome to join—just wear something green and yellow and be part of the spectacle!
🌿 A Celebration of Bromley’s Origins

Did you know that Bromley gets its name from the abundance of broom that once flourished here? The town’s origins trace back to the Anglo-Saxon village of “Broomleag,” meaning “a woodland clearing where broom grows.”

Now, Bromley Civic Society, alongside The Glades, Your Bromley and Cleaner & Greener—are reviving this historic spring festival, which once drew thousands of visitors each year.
🎶 Festivities on Martin’s Hill
Join us at Martin’s Hill, where you can see the broom flowers. Celebrations will continue near the War Memorial, with an afternoon of:

* Speeches and community showcases
* Live music and entertainment
* Family-friendly activities
* How to help us beat the brambles and keep this flower in our town
